SIXTEENTH WEEK
ENDIKA SANCHEZ
Exams and presentations are finally over, I don’t have any recuperation to do so I can start working full time in the company I’ve been working part time as a part of “dual formation”. There is nothing to say about each subject this week, everything is over, and I won’t be coming to class until next Thursday when recuperations are over, and we end the classes period before the training practices.
While in training practices, we must do a final project. To people who aren’t part of dual formation the project will be given by a teacher and they have to develop it in 50 hours, in our case we can choose something we have done while working and use it as a project without time limit.
I would recommend ASIR if you like networking, Operative Systems and servers but you will also have to learn on your free time if you don’t want to get outdated!

The course is over, but in my case, i have to repeat some exams.
This is the final exam´s week, so we have to study to try to pass all the exams. If we dont pass all of them, we have another try on june.
If I pass all the exams now on february I´ll start the practices, but if i leave something for june, the practises will start on september.

FIFTEENTH WEEK
ENDIKA SANCHEZ
This is our last week, we
have already finished the challenge and we are just with the presentations of
our work. The presentation focuses on configuring each service we have learned,
following the rules our teachers give us. It’s kinda similar to a practical
exam but we can check the documents we have been writing while doing the
challenge. These are the presentations we’ve had until now:In Database Management we have done a Task Scheduling practice. It has been quite difficult because there are a lot of things to configure and if you forget a little detail, nothing will work. I had a problem with a configuration file that wasn’t updating, all I needed to do was restart the service, so it could update its settings.
In Operative System Management we did every practice last week, the one that gave me more trouble was NFS, I configured everything correctly, but it wasn’t working, even the teacher couldn’t find the problem. Today he has told me that he still doesn’t know what the problem is.
In Internet and Network Services we’ve done the Mail server practice, it has a lot of configuration files, but we haven’t had to go through every file because it would’ve been too time consuming for an exam. We have the Streaming server practice today which should be easy to set up, but he might ask things we haven’t configured.
In Security and High Availability, we did the VPN practice last week. It was really easy because we just had to create a Windows VPN which consists on following the configuration wizard step by step. We have our last practice tomorrow, it’s about a High Availability Cluster we created some weeks ago, I hope he doesn’t tell us to change many things because it’s kinda difficult.
In Web Application Deployment we presented our WordPress web and the teacher literally asked us endless questions. Some were easy but there was a question about an Antispam plugin I didn’t answer correctly not because I didn’t know how to do it but because I was kind of nervous, the answer was in front of me and he saw it but I didn’t.
We just have an English exam left and we finish this course.

This is the last week of our course so we are finishing the demostrations.
This week can be resumed easily, we are doing a presentation of our job done in the last weeks.
With Ricardo we have to demostrate that the work done in Security and High Availability and Internet and Network Services is well done and we know all about it, or at least know how to do the basics.
We have to show to Ricardo which tools we have installed for video streaming, audio streaming, mail server, VPN and explain some things about the laws related to the data protection.
With Xabi we have to show the plugins and the web we have been creating in the last weeks.
Finally with have we are doing the same as Ricardo; doing the demostrations about the work we have been doing in the last weeks.

FOURTEENTH WEEK
ENDIKA SANCHEZ
In Database Management we are working with mirrored databases. As its name points, the objective is to have a database that is synchronizing with another one in a distant server or a different SQL instance. Both databases must have the same structure and data before mirroring, the best practice would be to backup our main database and restore it on our second server to have the same exact content. We also finish the challenge this week, we are having some presentations from our previous projects.

In Operative System Management we have to create a domain using LDAP in Ubuntu. Unfortunately, the support for our current version ended in 18th of January, this means that its main repositories are outdated and we have to change them manually, which takes a long while. I’ve also had some problems with broken packages and I’ve had to reconfigure some.

In Internet and Network Services as it’s imparted by the same teacher, we are using the hours to finish with Security and High availability.
In Security and High Availability, we have been trying to simulate an SSH tunnel through Putty, a desktop remote access application. We didn’t understand the requisites very well back when we started, I re-read the requisites yesterday and found out it was really easy, so I finished the work my team has been doing in 1 month, in just 30 minutes. We just had to close a port for an IP and then open a connection with putty from our computer to “Debian 2” with a tunnel through “Debian 1”.
In Web Application Deployment we have finished our WordPress site, it’s been kind of easy but long. We haven’t had any big problems, our biggest problem was that our commerce plugin wasn’t translating web links, so we had to install 2 translation plugins to link them with our commerce plugin.

This week with Javi we are working on mirrored databases, which means that you use 2 databases synchronyzed each other, so when one of them fail, the other one can still running.
With Ricardo we are trying to connect 3 machines. The first one with Windows installed on it, the second one with Ubuntu and finally the third one will have Debian installed.
The Debian machine has got the apache installed on the 8080 port but this port is closed to everyone except the Ubuntu machine.
So the task to do is to connect the Windows machine to the Ubuntu so we can connect direcly to the Debian.
We will do this with a tool called putty doian a tunnel trought the Ubuntu machine using a port from Windows.
Finally, with Xabi we have finished our web using Wordpress.
